1: For those not familiar with you, give us a little back ground on yourself?

I was born and raised in Southern California, and went to college in San Diego. After we graduated my husband and I took up racing gas-powered radio controlled cars. I got really into the action photography part of racing r/c cars and even did some articles and photographs for R/C Car Action. In early 2005 I was ready to tackle something else and looking to get healthier, so started going to the gym and gave karate a shot. After we watched the 2005 Tour de France I wanted a bike, so we looked into mountain bikes. I really wanted a road bike, though! We got mountain bikes and right away started taking bike trips on the weekends. We took trips to Sedona, BootlegCanyon and Gooseberry Mesa within about 3 months of having bikes and it just grew from there. In 2006 we had the pleasure of road tripping out to Colorado for riding in Crested Butte and Durango, and went back in 2008 for more. I’ve had such amazing experiences and met really great people through the sport.

2: How long have you been racing competitively?

My first XC race was in October 2007 in Sport (Cat 2). I spent most of 2008 racing Sport, but did a few races toward the end of the year in Expert (Cat 1). I decided late in 2008 that I wanted to try to go Pro in 2009 so set that as a goal for late summer. I wound up having a few good races and felt confident in my training. In March 2009 I got my Pro upgrade and have been having a blast.

3: What are your top 5 career highlights

1)       Pro XCT Fontana 2010 – 5th Pro Women
2)       Pro XCT Mellow Johnny’s 2010 – 5th Pro Women
3)       US Cup Pro XCT Fontana 2009 – 10th Pro Women
4)       US Cup Triple Crown Bonelli Park XC 2010 – 4th Pro Women
5)       12 Hours of Temecula November 2008 – 1st Pro/Expert Women Solo

4: When you’re not on the bike, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I don’t have much spare time! Usually working, cooking or sleeping.

5: For 2010 and beyond, what are your racing goals?

For 2010 I really wanted to train hard and consistently again for the 2nd year and try to close the gap between myself and the World Cup Pro’s. I’ve made some headway in to that, but still have a long way to go and a lot to learn. I’d like to make it to more races and continue to try Short Track and Super D, and maybe get in some road racing experience as well. I’d like to see how far I can go with racing and right now it’s fun and exciting!

6: Who do you want to give a shout out for helping you this year?

First and foremost my husband Justin! My biggest supporter out there. After that, Rock N’ Road Cyclery in Orange County has been awesome getting me on the 2010 S-Works Epic and keeping me running all year. Thanks to Ergon USA I’ve got the most comfortable grips out there. I’ve been able to train a lot smarter and more consistently thanks to Cycle Ops grassroots racing. For eyewear I am loving all of my Oakley sunglasses – they protect my eyes from sun, wind, rain, tree branches, rocks, you name it. And they are rad looking to boot. I’ve been drinking a lot of First Endurance EFS and Ultragen also – big props to them for some great nutritionals.
